Miss Mary Bodine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Bodine of Himrod, and Charles Briggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Briggs of Penn Yan, were married at the Himrod Baptist church parsonage, Friday afternoon, March 28, 1947, by Rev. Howard Horton.

DUNDEE - Charles H. Briggs, 65, of RD 1, died Saturday, (Dec. 24) at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa., after a long illness. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Baird Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Benjamin Disbrow will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Mr. Briggs was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Andover, N.Y., son of Howard and Reita Wallace Briggs. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired employee of Dresser-Rand Co., and a member of the American Legion of Penn Yan, and the Penn Yan Loyal Order of the Moose. Surviving are his wife, Mary Bodine Briggs; one son, Gordon C. Briggs of Dundee; two grandchildren; two sisters, Sara Hainsworth of Warsaw, and Irma Mullens of Penn Yan; seven brothers, Lewis, Lawrence, Robert, David, Arling and Howard, all of Dundee, and Stanley of Marathon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the American Cancer Association.

Kenneth C. Colf 82 of Penn Yan passed away on Wednesday August 13th. Calling hours will begin at 10 am Saturday and finish 12 noon. Funeral Services will begin at 12 followed by burial with military honors in Lakeview Cemetery memorial donations may be made to either the Penn Yan Ambulance Corp or Soldiers & Sailors Hospital.

With great sadness, we would like to inform our friends and family of our loss this week. Mary E. (Briggs) Colf was an amazing mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend and she will be deeply missed by all. Mary passed away at her home in Dade City, FL on July 4, 2023, where her family had been taking care of her with the help of Gulf Side Hospice. Mary was born November 13, 1928 in Barrington, NY daughter of Erwin & Elizabeth (Green) Bodine. Mary retired from Michael Sterns in Penn Yan, NY where she was a seamstress. She then drove bus for Dundee Central School District, as well as working in the vineyards, and working for Greg Dibble at his store. Mary loved to hunt with her son and was famous for her rabbit potpie, and the many wedding and birthday cakes she made for years. Survivors are her only son Gordon and Sharon Briggs Dade City, FL. Grandchildren Sherrie Woodruff-Lurcock Zephyrhills, FL, Edward and Jennifer Woodruff Bristol, NY & Dunnellon, FL, Rick and Meghan Briggs Dade City, FL. Great Grandkids David & Lorana Woodruff Penn Yan, NY, Deetta Lurcock Zephyrhills, FL, Evalyn Woodruff Tampa, FL Nathan, Tyler, Logan Schuler Bristol, NY Kendal Dean, Lindlee Woodruff Bristol, NY & Dunnellon, FL., Emmitt Briggs of Dade City, FL; 2 great great grandkids; many sister & brother in-laws, nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a brother Arthur Bodine; 2 sisters, Pauline Depew, and Barbara Reeves; her first husband Charles Briggs in 1988; a great grandson Joshua Woodruff in 1993; and her second husband Kenneth Colf in 2014. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday August 13, 2023 with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating, in Hillside Cemetery Dundee, NY with a Memorial Celebration of Her Life immediately following at the Dundee American Legion at Noon.
