DONALD PHILIP BODINE, 69, a resident of Dallas died at his home Wednesday, August 17, 2005 of natural causes. Don was born the second child to Henry and Elizabeth Sutherland Bodine on December 2, 1935. He joined his sister Sylvia and was followed by his younger brother Pete, and they became the best of friends. He grew up in Penn Yan, New York, and graduated from Penn Yan Academy. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Coast Guard. Don served during the Korean War, and was stationed in Cape Maine, New Jersey. He chose to serve out his tour of duty in the Pacific Northwest, and was stationed in Tillamook, Oregon. Don graduated from Oregon State University in 1963 from the School of Pharmacy. Don married Grace Shaw and they share two daughters Renee and Roxanne. They later divorced. Don loved being a pharmacist, and enjoyed serving at Salem Hospital and Children?s Clinic. He dreamed of opening a drive through Pharmacy that would put the customers needs first and make it easier for picking up medication. This dream became a reality when Pill Box Drugs, Inc. was founded in 1971. In 1978 Don married Sally Schmidt and together they share three daughters Nicole, Alicia and Crystal. Don worked and served as President and CEO, of the pharmacy, until his retirement in 1999. After his retirement Don was actively involved at Western Mennonite High School coaching Girls Varsity Basketball and Men?s Golf. Don met Jesus Christ as his personal Savior while attending a Walk to Emmaus Renewal Weekend and his life was forever changed. He was an active member of Grace Community Church. He helped establish the Great Western Bank and served on the Dallas School Board. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing especially at Odell Lake, golfing, campfires, and friends. He loved his family. He is survived by his wife Sally, and five daughters: Renee Kliewer and her husband Mark of Beaverton, Roxanne Bodine of Beaverton, Nicole Hughes and her husband Dave of Vancouver, Alicia Bodine of Dallas and Crystal Winters and her husband JD of Dallas and four grandchildren: Sean Kliewer, Holly Kliewer, Austin Winters and Emma Hughes. Also surviving is his brother Pete of Tillamook. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM Tuesday and from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM on Wednesday. Celebration of Life will begin at 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 24th in the Grace Community Church. Private interment will be in the Dallas Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to The Love of Christ Ministries in care of the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center at 287 SW Washington St. Dallas, Oregon 97338.
