Subject: Corrections to Melvin Bodine information

Hi- I cannot believe I stumbled upon your website and began reading about my family. Wow- what a terrific site and I cannot wait to read more. I do wish to point out a few corrections, however. My grandfather was Melvin A. Bodine Sr. His wife was Beatrice Mamie Chase (not Close). Wayburn should be spelled Weyburn. Edna married LeRoy Gilbert (not Ray). My mother Marjorie married Carroll Ross Rudd (aka Cal) (not Calvin). Dorothy married William A. Smith. Clayton's wife was Elsie, not Elaine. Ruth married Gerald Townley and Weyburn's wife was Jean. I will ask my mom what her sister-in-laws' maiden names were and will ask about dates of birth and death. If you want even more information, I can provide names of their offspring as well.

Thanks so much! Kammy Rudd-Popiwczak (second child of Marjorie Lois Bodine)

Hi Dave- The birth order is Charles, Ruth, Edna, Clayton, Weyburn, Elma, Marjorie, Melvin Jr., Dorothy. There was a baby boy Arlen who only lived 3 days- I believe he was after Dorothy, but will have to double check. Weyburn's wife was Jean Parker. Mel Jr.'s wife is Joan Sullivan. My aunt Dorothy Bodine (aka Dottie to avoid confusion) who was Charles' wife just passed away on Friday and her funeral is tomorrow is Penn Yan. As I was searching for her obituary, that is how I found your website.

My grandmother Beatrice passed away on the fiftieth anniversary of Pearl Harbor- December 7, 1991 and is buried next to my grandfather in Hillside Cemetary in Dundee, NY (along with the baby Arlen and their son-in-law Bill Smith). The last place that my grandparents lived was 1181 Upper Hill Road in Middlesex, NY (there is a note under Melvin suggesting Middlesex- this is correct).

My mom was all excited when I told her about your website. She is looking up the dates for me to relay to you. I think recording this for future generations is so important. My cousin Bonnie Bodine-Shufelt has done extensive research on Montgomery County and Bodines (there is a Bodine Bridge and former Bodine Tavern) and was able to obtain membership in the D.A.R. as a result of her work.

Thanks so much for your important work. Have a great day- Kammy
