Louise Bodine
Louise Dilworth Bodine, 83, of Beaumont Health Care Center in Bryn Mawr and Manchester, Vt., died on March 27. Born in Pittsburgh, she attended Fox Croft School in Middleburg, Va., and Pine Manor College in Brookline, Mass. During WWII, Mrs. Bodine joined the O.S.S and served in London and Paris, where she met her future husband, Col. William Warden Bodine Jr.
Upon their return from Europe in 1946, they were married in Fox Chapel, Pa. and settled in Villanova. Mrs. Bodine became active in many areas of Philadelphia’s civic, social, cultural and educational affairs, including the Academy of Music and the Franklin Institute.
She and the late William Bodine (who was president of Jefferson Medical College and Hospital and also president of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia) were deeply involved in supporting many educational institutions in the area, including the Bodine High School for International Affairs, a magnet school created in 1981 through the partnership of the School District and the World Affairs Council.
Mrs. Bodine is survived her children, William of Rockland, Maine; Lawrence of Ambler; Anne Cresci of Boston, Mass.; Barbara of Media; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Bettina Dilworth of New York City.
Services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Bodine School for International Affairs, 4th and George St., Philadelphia, PA 19123.
