Her name on the 1930 Census of Rockaway, Morris County, New Jersey is Mabel R. Sh????. The copy I saw is hard to read, but it looks like she is 37 and widowed. She is living with her parents.

The sympathy of the community goes out to Mrs. Mabel Sheninger, principal of River Road School, whose husband, Frederick Sheninger, 35, was killed instantly Sunday morning. Funeral services will be held from the home of Mrs. Sheninger's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bodine, 50 Franklin avenue, Rockaway, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30. There will be a Masonic service by Delaware Lodge, F. & A.M., of Phillipsburg, of which he was a member. He was also a member of the Crescent Temple, Ancient Arabic Order of the Mystic Shrine, of Trenton. Mr. and Mrs. Sheninger lived at 290 Stuyvesant avenue. He was an engineer for the New Jersey Central Railroad, and had gone to see whether the tank of his locomotive needed water when he was struck on the head by a low bridge and killed instantly near Trenton Junction, Sunday morning. There are no children. Mrs. Sheninger has been a teacher in the local schools for eleven years, having taught here before her marriage to Mr. Sheninger. She has a sister, Miss Edith Bodine, who is a teacher in Jefferson School. [Note: Trenton Junction was a community now known as West Trenton, in Mercer County.]
In 1930 and 1940 Mable Sheninger lived with her parents in Rockaway, Morris County.
