From Creek County, Oklahoma Marriage Records: William L. Clay AND Gertrude Bodine were married 5 Sept 1915. [The marriage was reported in The Morning Tulsa Daily World of 8 Sept 1915 as having taken place on 5 Sept 1915 in Drumright by Rev. A. L. Snyder.]
On 12 Sept 1918, William Lewis Clay registered for the World War 1 draft in Creek County, Oklahoma. He reported he was born 16 Dec 1882, worked as a self-employed oil jobber and his nearest kin was Gertrude Bodine. In 1920, William Clay lived in Drumright, Creek County and worked in an auto garage and in 1930 lived in Oklahoma City working as a salesman for a pipe supply company.

Mrs. Gertrude Clay, 62, of 1100 NW 84, died Sunday in a local hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Sherman funeral chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Parl cemetery. Mrs. Clay, a native of Ohio, came to Oklahoma in 1913. She came to Oklahoma City 29 years ago. She was a member of the Christian church. Survivors are her husband, W. L., four daughters, Mrs. Harold Strong, Morgan City, La.; Mrs. George Rinesh, Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. W. E. Maddox, 1123 NW 79, and Mrs. Harold R. Taylor, Dallas; one sister, Mrs. Paul Harris, Tulsa.

William Louis Clay, 76, of 1125 NW 79, died Wednesday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Sherman Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Clay was a retired oilman and member of the Christian church. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Harold Strong, Morgan City, La.; Mrs. George Rinesh, Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. W. E. Maddox, of the home, and Mrs. Harold R. Taylor, Dallas, and one brother, Earl, 05 NW 36.
