William Joseph Bodine, 99, 8/02/1924-07/08/2024
Born in Kennett, MO, Bill and his family later moved to Springfield, MO where he graduated from Springfield High School in 1942 and attended Drury College. Growing up during the depression, Bill started working at the young age of 10 years old and held a variety of employments throughout High School to assist in supporting his family. Bill accepted Christ at a young age, he had the faith of the mustard seed, he believed you could move mountains through Christ. Bill met the love of his life, Margie Roehr, during his senior year of high school. Bill is a WWII veteran, Army of the United States 2/18/43-4/2/1946, stationed in Germany. He received the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal. American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal & Bronze Star Attachment (Double), World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, Sharpshooter Badge & Rifle Bar, Marksman Badge & Pistol Bar. He returned to Springfield and Bill and Margie were married 11/28/1946. Bill was a Civil Engineer, he accepted employment at the VA Hospital in Springfield as the Supervisor Operating Engineer. Bill and Margie then relocated to Raytown, MO where he accepted employment at Midwest Research Institute as the Supervisor and Engineer of Buildings and Grounds, where he worked until his retirement in 1988. He continued to do consulting work for MRI until the age of 70. Bill had an amazing talent for machines. He could design, build, repair and diagnose just about anything, it was truly amazing the knowledge and recall he had just by listening to the sound of a machine. Bill and Margie had 4 children, Susan, Sally, Alice and David. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. Bill is survived by his wife Margie Bodine, daughter Sally Lockwood, spouse Steve, grandchildren, Kellie McQueen spouse Rob, Logan Fisher spouse Mollie and Jason Lockwood spouse Dina, great grandchildren, Braden Lockwood spouse Claire, Mason McQueen spouse Liz, Ryan McQueen, Morgan McQueen and Grace Fisher. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Grace Bodine, brother Keith, sisters Orlena, Phyllis and Lois, and his children Susan Fisher, Alice Bodine and David Bodine, and granddaughter, Kimberly Lockwood. Margie Earlene (Roehr) Bodine, age 100, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning September 14, 2025 in her home with family by her side. Visitation will be Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 9:00am, with funeral services to follow at 10:00am at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Kansas City, MO, Interment at Brooking Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Brighton Hospice in Memory of Margie Bodine, 4200 Little Blue Parkway, Suite 570, Independence, MO 64057. Born March 27, 1925 in West Plaines, MO, Margie and her family later moved to Springfield, MO where she graduated at Springfield High School in 1943. Margie met the love of her life, Bill Bodine, during her senior year of High School. After graduation she took the position as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone. Later she was employed at Springfield Bank, where she sold War Bonds while her fiancé, Bill a WWII Army Vet, was overseas. Once Bill returned from his service with the US Army in WWII they married on November 28, 1946. During their marriage of 77 years, they loved their time together and time at Truman Lake, boating, fishing and time with family and friends. Margie always took a positive approach to life and taught her children to turn the negatives in life into positives. Margie was always young in spirit and able to live life to the fullest. Together, they had four children Susan, Sally, Alice and David. She was a devoted loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. Margie is survived by her daughter Sally Lockwood, spouse Steve, grandchildren, Kellie McQueen, spouse Rob, Logan Fisher, spouse Mollie and Jason Lockwood, spouse Dina, great grandchildren, Braden Lockwood, spouse Claire, Mason McQueen, spouse Liz, Ryan McQueen, Morgan McQueen and Grace Fisher. Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bodine, parents, George and Myrtle Roehr, brother, Larry Roehr and children Susan Fisher, Alice Bodine and David Bodine, son in law, Doug Fisher and granddaughter, Kimberly Lockwood.
