Notes for: Peter Bodine

Jan Bedijn [jan.bedijn@wanadoo.com] from Holland, a descendant of this family, says that Peter and Mary (originally Pierre Boidin and Maria Prony) were living in Armentieres (now in Northern France) when problems relating to iconoclasm forced them to leave. They went first to the city of Steenvoorden, near Armentieres, and eventually to Sandwich in England. After ten years, they settled in Leiden, Holland with their three children: Martyntje, Pieter, and Antoinette (with her husband Gabriel Hanedouche). Jan says that Pieter was married in June of 1592 (this is probably 1594) in Leiden.

Jan has a lot more information on this family, but I have not heard any more from him since our original correspondence. He may be putting his information on the Internet sometime. That would be great if that happened. Here is Jan's message to me:

They were after the iconoclasm,beginning the city Steenvoorden,near Armentieres going to Sandwich (England),after 10 years they sattled them in Leiden together with three children Martyntje,Pieter and Antoinette with husband Gabriel Hanedouche.
