Eric C. Bodine
Funeral services for Eric C. Bodine, 45, of New Germany will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 8, from St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, Carver County, with the Rev. Jeff Harter officiating.
Mr. Bodine died on Monday, May 5, 2003, at his home. Visitation is on Wednesday (today) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, with a chapel service at 7:30 p.m.
Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be David Rettler, Jeff Bodine, Steven Bodine, Dan Matzen, Peter Bolin and Tim Barth. Interment will be in the church cemetery in New Germany.
Mr. Bodine was born on Jan. 16, 1958, in Minneapolis to Crane J. and Elizabeth S. (Walberg) Bodine. He was baptized on Nov. 23, 1971, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis by the Rev. Paul Youngdahl and was confirmed on May 7, 1972, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church by the Rev. Paul Noren.
On Oct. 15, 1988, Mr. Bodine was united in marriage to Jean S. Jopp at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. Peter Meier.
Mr. Bodine served as a Sunday school teacher and a camp counselor at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Minneapolis. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and a member of the National Association of Music Merchants.
Mr. Bodine worked for the family business, Bodine's Music Inc., for over 30 years.
Some of his favorite activities included spending time at the lake fishing and boating, enjoying trips up north, vacationing with friends and family and spending time with his black lab, "Montana."
Survivors include his wife, Jean; daughter, Carla Rettler of Winsted; son, David Rettler of New Germany; parents of Mound; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Marilyn Bodine of Minneapolis, Steven and Jennifer Bodine of Plymouth; sister and brother-in-law, Suzie and Peter Bolin of St. Louis Park; mother-in-law, Bernett Jopp of Mayer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary Jopp of Mayer, Bob and Marlene Jopp of Mayer, Ronald Jopp of Mayer, Randy and Renee Jopp of New Germany, Ricky and Colleen Jopp of Mayer and Phillip Jopp of Mayer; special friend, Tim Barth of Winsted; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Elmer and Margaret Bodine and Ernest and Emmy Walberg of Sweden; aunt, Janice Andrews; and father-in-law, Wallace Jopp.
