Many Wellsboro friends and relatives were shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Emily M. Bodine of Scottsdale, Arizona, who died shortly after midnight on Tuesday, February 9th. Even though Mrs. Bodine had been in failing health for some time, death was unexpected and came as a shock to her friends and relatives. She was born November 21, 1908 the daughter of John and Catherine Lesheur Miller of Reading. Shortly after her marriage to George S. Bodine, a Tioga County resident, the couple moved to Wellsboro where they remained until ill health several years ago forced them to move for part of each year to Arizona. In the summer Mr. and Mrs. Bodine owned and operated Animaland at the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. Mrs. Bodine was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and until ill health forced her to quit, she worked diligently in various Church activities. Mr. and Mrs. Bodine spent the past summer at their home in Wellsboro leaving for Arizona in November. The couple celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary on November 16th. Besides her husband George S. Bodine, Sr., of Scottsdale, Arizona, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jeanne Hanson, of Towson, Maryland; Mrs. Carol Johnson and Mrs. Catherine Henry, of Wellsboro; two sons, Harry E. Bodine, of Wellsboro; and M-Sgt. George S. Bodine, Jr., currently in Wellsboro on leave with the U.S. Air Force, 13 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Rose Krick, Miss Mabel Miller, Mrs. Catherine Rubright and Mrs. Sarah Witmoyer, all of Reading; 1 niece and 1 nephew. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at the time of this writing. Both sons, George, Jr. and Harry flew to Arizona on Tuesday morning.
Emily Bodine was buried in Wellsboro Cemetery.

Anna Elizabeth Custer Bodine, 87, known by her friends as "Beebe" and long time resident of Wellsboro died Thursday, June 27, 1991 at Hollywood Medical Center Hospice, Ft. Lauderdale. Fla. Born February 26, 1904 at Newburgh, N. Y., she was the daughter of Dr. Melvin and Anna Johnson Custer. Following her practice teaching in Antrim, she was designated salutatorian of her 1925 graduating class at Mansfield Normal School in music education. She served for many years as organist and choir director for St Paul's Episcopal Church in Wellsboro as well as cashier at the Wellsboro theaters and hostess for a weekly Wellsboro bridge club. She also was employed, following her move to Florida in 1952, as a bookkeeper for the Officers Club of the Air Force Reserve's Flamingo Wing located at Miami International Airport . Later, upon her return to Pennsylvania, she served as senior bookkeeper of the Yorktowne Hotel, York, for several years until she married George S. Bodine Sr. of Wellsboro in 1971. She then worked alongside him in his tourist businesses, primarily serving as accountant and bookkeeper, until their retirement. Preceding her in death was a son, Lawrence Custer Woodin, a victim of childhood leukemia in 1932. Surviving are her husband, George S. Bodine Sr.; a daughter, Elizabeth W. Sibarium of Ft Lauderdale, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Lt Col. (Ret) William L. and Marie J. Woodin of Ft Walton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Gertrude C. Throop of York; a sister-in-law, Josephine M. Custer of Lancaster; four grandchildren, one greatgrandchild, three stepdaughters, two stepsons, numerous stepgrandchildren and step great grandchildren, one niece and two nephews. A memorial funeral service will be held Saturday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at St Paul's Episcopal Church, Wellsboro, with the Rev, George Lineker, officiating.

George S. Bodine Sr., 89, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Wellsboro, RR 6, died Saturday, June 1, 1996, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Born April 3, 1907, in Lawrenceville, he was the son of Henry E. Bodine, Esq. and Mabel Crane Smith. He was a graduate of Swarthmore College. He was a retired former owner and operator of Animaland, Grand Canyon, until his retirement at age 79. Prior to that he was a concessionaire at Leonard Harrison State Park during the 1940s and 50s. He was active with Larry Woodin in the promotion and establishment of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and the Laurel Festival. He was an avid member and past president of the Wellsboro Firemen's and member of the Ambulance Association and worked diligently in establishing the Firemen's Carnival. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Wellsboro and St. John's Episcopal Church, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., singing in both choirs. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Ossea Lodge #317 F&AM, Wellsboro, Williamsport and Coudersport Consistories, member of the Hollywood Stamp Club, and the American Philatalic Society. He taught Aviation Theory at Penn State University and was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Preceding him in death were his wives, Emily Irene Miller Bodine in 1971, and Elizabeth Custer Woodin Bodine in 1991. Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeanne and Ben Hansen of Towson, Md., Carol and Donald Johnson of Wellsboro RR 6, and Catherine Elizabeth Bodine-English of Wellsboro RR 6; two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Janet Bodine of Wellsboro RR 6, and George S. Jr. and Karen Bodine of Wellsboro; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Sibarium of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; stepson, William Woodin of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. A Masonic service followed by a memorial service will be held Thursday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Wellsboro. The Rev. Gregory Hinton will officiate. Burial will be made in the Wellsboro Cemetery. Donations may be made to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church Music Fund, P.O. Box 701, Wellsboro, Pa. 16901. Arrangements are being handled by the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Wellsboro.
