Chemung---Miss Sara Jean Bodine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Bodine, and David Richard Monell, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Monell of Owego, were married Easter, Sunday, Apr. 6, 1947, at the Port Crane, N. Y., Baptist Church with Rev, Justin Dix, uncle of the bridegroom, officiating. [Note: Port Crane is in Broome County, 28 miles from Owego.]

Sarah G. Monell November 13, 2010 Sarah G. Monell, 86, of Hillview Dr., Cato, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 13, 2010, after a short battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at the Victory United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Cato. The family invites everyone to attend a meal after the service at the Cato American Legion. Contributions may be made to the Cato American Legion Post 911 or to T.O.P.S. Club in Cato. Sarah was born June 7, 1924, in Sayre, PA, a daughter to the late Eli H. and Edith Lenox Bodine. She was an auxiliary member of the Cato American Legion for 21 years, a member of the T.O.P.S. Club for 25 years and a lifetime member of her beloved Curfew Club. She is survived by her nine children, son, Hal (Bev) Monell of Weedsport; eight daughters, Ginger (Ed) Schillawski of VT, Barbara Ziemba of Cato, Lori (Mark) Schmiedeshoff of Cameron, Sylvia (Charles) Lavelle of Hamburg, Carolyn (Dave) Freligh of Cayuga, Nancy Monell of Cato, Bonnie Gates (Ronnie Ingleston) of TX and Judy (Mike) Krieger of Cato; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Lucille Ellis of Chemung. She was predeceased by her husband, David R. Monell. Arrangements by Keysor Funeral Service, Cato.
