I saw his death certificate and it says he was 103 years 4 months and 3 days old at the time of his death. That would make his birth date Dec. 12, 1852 (not 1853).

Family notes say he was born in Orange Co., NY; so Yates County may be a mistake.

In 1900, James Bodine lived in Prattsburgh, Steuben County, New York engaged in farming. He reported that in 18 years of marriage his wife had borne 3 children, all of whom lived with them. In 1920, James Bodine lived in Hector, Schuyler County, New York engaged in farming. James and Leonora Bodine were buried in Prattsburgh Rural Cemetery, Prattsburgh, Steuben County.

Penn Yan, May 18--Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at 221 Sheppard street, for Mrs. Lenora B. Bodine, 78, whose death occured Friday at her home in Sheppard street. Rev. A. B. Schofield of Prattsburgh, will officiate, with burial in Prattsburg. She was born in Town of Italy, Yates County, daughter of Luther and Rhoda Beyea Bardeen. Surviving are her husband, James Bodine Penn Yan; daughter, Mrs. Jennie Holtby, Elmira; five sons, Melvin, Dundee; Lester, Naples; Walter and Irwin, both of Penn Yan; Amasa, of Mecklenberg, and several grandchildren.

James Bodine, 103, died in Seneca county on Sunday, April 15, 1956. He was born Dec. 12, 1852 in Orange county, son of Amsa H. and Margaret Bodine. Mr. Bodine was a farmer and lived in Prattsburg, Steuben county for many years before he moved to Penn Yan in 1907. He was active until last summer, despite his advanced age, and until his final illness wore glasses only for reading. He leaves four sons, Melvin and Walter, both of Middlesex, Amsa of Welaka, Fla., and Erwin of Penn Yan RD; a daughter, Mrs. Carl Wittseld of Elmira; 22 grandchildren and 28 greatgrandchildren. Friends called at the Weldon Funeral Home where services were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday. The Rev. George Clarkson, pastor of the Dresden Methodist church, officiated. Burial was in Prattsburg Rural cemetery.
