Notes for: Benjamin Jones Bodine

My guess was that this Benjamin Bodine was descended from the "German" line of Bodines from Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Some of those Bodines also ended up in Canada. Many of these names are the same: Abraham, Marshall, Augustus, etc. RB, however, has him descended from another line of Bodines. I'll go with that for now.

We originally had Benjamin listed as "R. Jones Bodine." See the notes from Ronny below as to why his name was changed to Benjamin.

From Ronny Bodine:

The marriage of Jones Bodine and Lydia Ann Morris, both of Buckingham Township, was reported in the "Bucks County Intelligencer." In 1850, B. Jones Bodine worked as a limeburner in Buckingham Township. In 1860, he reported his occupation simply as a laborer, in 1870, again as B. Jones Bodine, he was a laborer at a lime house and in 1880, aged 67, he was engaged in farming. The 1919 Penn. Death Certificate of his daughter Cynthia Ann Bodine names her father as Benj. J. Bodine.

Lydia (Morris) Bodine was the daughter of Daniel L. Morris.

End of info from Ronny.

Dear Donald,

In response to your message, I am currently living in a house occupied by Jones Bodine and Lydia Morris in Buckingham Twp. (Bucks County), PA. I am not sure if they built the house or were living in another house on this same property. They held the deed to the land from 1843-1849. Please contact me for more information as I am deeply involved in the research of my house. I am hopeful that you might have some of the information I need to determine if they are the builders. BMB

End of above info.

I found Jones Bodine in the 1880 Census of Buckingham, Bucks Co., PA. He was 67 and born in PA. Both his parents were born in PA, too. He is married and is a farmer. His wife is Lydia Ann. She is 57 and born in PA, as well as her parents. The only child in their household is Scott S. Bodine. He is 20 and born in PA (both parents, too).

Two houses away is another Bodine family:
