Notes for: Emeline (Emma) V. Bodine
From Ronny Bodine:
In 1880, Emma Bodine, 24 and single, worked as a domestic servant for the Willis family in Auburn, DeKalb County, Indiana.
It is here assumed that Emma Bodine, daughter of John and Elizabeth Bodine is identical with Emma V. Bodine, wife of Samuel H. Overholser based upon the following reasoning. Samuel and Emma were the parents of Ray Albert Overholser, born 6 Sept 1886 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ray died 27 June 1957 in Harrisburg, Penn. and his Pennsylvania Certificate of Death reports his parents as Samuel H. Overholser and Anna (sic) Bodine, thus confirming that Bodine was his mother's maiden name and not that Emma was previously married to a Bodine. John and Elizabeth's daughter Emma was the only Emma born in Ohio in 1858 and was yet unmarried in 1880. Her residence in Indianapolis where her son was born is also where her mother was living.
From Preble County, Ohio Marriage Records:
S. H. Overholser AND Emma V. Bodine were married 22 May 1881 by G. F. Stetting, M.G.
Burials in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.
Emma Overholser buried 5 Sept 1895.
