Henry J. Miller, 77, passed away Tuesday morning, September 18, 1934, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Bodine, at No. 2 Fifield row, after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 20, at the Bodine home, with Dr. C. L. Koons officiating. The body will then be taken to Durant, Iowa, for burial. Graveside services will he held Friday afternoon, September 21, in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa. Mrs. Anna Miller and Mrs. Dorothy Bodine will accompany the body to Durant, Iowa.
Henry J. Miller was born December 3, 1857, in Mecklenburg, Germany, the son of Heinrich and Sophia (Moeller) Moeller. At the age of six months, he came to the United States with his parents and settled in Sunbury, Iowa. He married Anna Marie Severien. He was widely known in Cedar County for raising purebred Aberdeen angus cattle. In 1914, the family moved to Glenside, Saskatchewan, Canada, where he engaged in wheat farming. The family moved to Chicago, Illinois for a short time, until they moved to Ashland, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Knights of Pythias in Ashland, having spent the past nine winters in the city and for the past four years making Ashland his permanent home.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Bodine of Ashland; one son, Harry (Amanda) Miller of Glenside, Saskatchewan, Canada; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William Schneckloth of Luverne, Minnesota, and Mrs. Ida Merchant of Spencer, Iowa; and one son-in-law, Hugo Burmeister of Glenside, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Albert Miller, one daughter, Sophia Burmeister, one grandson, John Burmeister and one son-in-law, Mahlon Bodine.

Note: Henry's parents had the surname Moeller. Henry took the surname of Miller. Henry died in 1934. I obtained this newspaper on microfilm and had it copied and printed and still have this obituary today. His gravestone has the year 1935, which is a mistake and should be 1934. Plans for 2021, is to get this gravestone for my family member corrected.
