Obituary, The Roanoke Times (Roanoke, Va.) of 19 May 2003.
BODINE, Evelyn Ashworth, 78, of Roanoke, lost her battle with cancer on May 16, 2003. Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother and had a passion for life. She spent 20 years accumulating research and documenting genealogy records as a "hobby" and volunteered many tireless hours to the Virginia Room and the Mormon Church. Evelyn was also active with the extended ATF family of ATFAR and enjoyed the many activities and a lifetime accumulation of friends from all over the country. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Robert B. Bodine; children, Robert D. Bodine, Renee B. Meador, and Randall C. Bodine and his wife Mary; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; sister, Myrtle Anderson of Colorado, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Nobbee and Dr. Currie of Lewis Gale and their respective staff for such sensitive care; Good Samaritan Hospice, Evelyn's friends in the Virginia Room / Roanoke City Public Library, and the family history department of the Mormon Church, Salem Stake Center, the select members of Roanoke City Fire Department, Roanoke City Police Department and Roanoke City 911 who assisted the family greatly through offers and deeds; and the Bodine neighbors who were tireless in their efforts, including a special thanks to Bob and Evelyn Hale who were with us on a daily basis. The family will receive friends at Oakey's North Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 to celebrate Evelyn's life. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at Franklin Memorial Park in Franklin County, Rt. 220 south, 4 1 / 2 miles south of Boones Mill, Virginia.
