Married 2ndly in 1927, he and Irene Bodine divorced after April 1930 and on 12 June 1943 in Foy, King County, Irean married George Mortensen. In May 1943, Bert married his 3rd wife, Gladys. In 1942, he registered for the World War II draft in Seattle and reported his next of kin was Gladys Cummings. He worked as a taxi driver for the Far West Cab Company. Bert and Gladys Bodine also divorced and he married 4thly, Grace, from who he was divorced 23 Nov 1948 as reported in The Seattle Times of 24 Nov 1948. Gracie Warriner, his 5th wife, whom he married in 1949, survived him.
Gladys Gray Bodine, his 3rd wife, fell victim to a homicide on 19 Dec 1963 in her home in Kent. The Seattle Times reported that she was strangled by one Gary Lee Quinlivan, 29, a close acquaintance of Mrs. Bodine's 31-year old daughter. He had murdered another man that same day and abducted a woman whose car he was driving when captured. Quinlivan, after a long series of complex legal proceedings pled guilty to the two murders and kidnapping in April 1973 and was sentenced to life in prison where he died in 2011 at the age of 77.
