On 12 Sept 1918, John August Bodine registered for the World War 1 draft in Denver, Colorado. He reported he was born 22 Aug 1877, worked as a car repairer for Denver Rio Grande, and that Nettie M. Bodine was his next of kin.
In 1920, he still lived and worked in Denver, but by April 1930, Nettie Bodine was widowed and working in Denver as a waitress in a cafeteria.
Obituaries for John A. Bodine were published in the Rocky Mountain News of 10 May 1928 and the Denver Post of 11 May 1928.

Funeral service for Mrs. Nettie Nolan, 78, sweetheart of the Long Beach "press club," will be today at 4 p.m. at Holton & Son Mortuary. She died last Wednesday in her home, 115 E. Seventh St. Mrs. Nolan, known to many as "Bo," ran a rooming house and had befriended many newspaper employees. She was a native of Denver, Colo. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. William Andres; nephew, George Blay and grandsons, Kenneth Bodine and John Bodine Dare.
