Notes for: Alfred G. Russell

The 1850 Marshall County, Alabama Census lists Jane Smith (50, Va) and Joshua Russell (66, Va) as being in Alfred Russell's household (#28-28, 23 Oct 1850 by A. C. Beard). Alfred may have been married more than one time as his wife's age shows 35 and the oldest child is 24. The children will be listed here, but this may not be correct. The Russell Cemetery is located in the lake at Guntersville, Alabama in the old Sortor's Crossroads Community. His family names will be listed as being buried there when identified, but very few death dates will be known. This information comes from TVA 1152 (5-1-1937), Russell Cemetery, No 5, Cemetery Removal Record. J. G. Russell made the descision to leave the Russell bodies in the cemetery in most cases. Lula McClendon, daughter of John and Mattie Russell gave permission for her parents and Martha Russell (d, 1912) Charlie Russell (d. 1895) and Susie Bell Russell (d. 1887) to remain. She was a sister to them.
