Notes for: Earle Sanford Bodine

Earle entered the U.S. Air Force in March of 1953 and was discharged in March of 1957. He worked as an A. and E. instructor at S.A.F.B, Texas for most of that time. In 1973, he owned his own automatic transmission shop in Wichita Falls, Texas.

BURKBURNETT - Earle S. Bodine, 72, an area resident of Burkburnett since 1962 died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, in Wichita Falls. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at First United Methodist Church of Burkburnett with the Rev. Kathy McLean-Davis, pastor, of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Burkburnett Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home. Mr. Bodine was born in Harveyville, Kan., on Feb. 13, 1933. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and was in the USAF from 1953 until 1970. He owned his own mechanic shop. He then owned and operated Bodine Transmission in Wichita Falls and Burkburnett until his retirement in 1995. After his retirement he was actively involved in restoring antique tractors and attending antique tractor and machinery shows. He married Barbara Hubbard on May, 29, 1953. Survivors include wife, Barbara Bodine of Burkburnett; daughters, Debra & Clay Gaston of Elgin, Texas, Janet & Lewis Holmes of Burkburnett, Joyce Keyser of Spring, Texas, and Cindy & David Smith of Wylie, Texas; grandchildren, Billy Keyser, Justin Keyser, Krista Gaston, Aaron Gaston, and Audra Smith; brother, Merle Bodine and wife Myrna of Sun City, Ariz.; sisters Mary & Max Heberling of Topeka, Kan., and Doris Patterson of Topeka, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Douglas Bodine in 1969; and a grandson Danny Bodine in 1990. Memorials may be made to 1st United Methodist Church, 301 E. 4th, Burkburnett 76354. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
