William Arthur Hayes, 68, of 2236 E. Main St., died at 2:30 a.m. today in Wabash Employes Hospital. Mr. Hayes retired in 1951 after working as a stockman for the Wabash 33 years. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and an honorary deacon of Riverside Baptist Church where he served as deacon 38 years. He was born in Moberly, Mo., Sept. 6, 1885, a son of J. J. and Sarah Hayes and was married June 15, 1913 to Lorena Bodine. He was a graduate of Moberly High School and the University of Missouri. He leaves his wife, a son, Donald E. Hayes, Urbana, two sisters, Mrs. John Ballinger and Mrs. S. E. Wood, both of Moberly, and one grandson. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p. m. Thursday in the Riverside Baptist Church with burial in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brintlinger Funeral Home from 2 p.m. Wednesday to 11 a.m. Thursday and at the church from noon until funeral time Thursday.

Mrs. Arthur (Lorena Bodine) Hayes, 83, of 1156 E. Lincoln St. died 9:41 a.m. Thursday (June 22, 1978) in St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Brintlinger's West Main Funeral Home, with visitation 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: Riverside Baptist Church Building Fund. Mrs. Hayes was born in Hannibal, Mo., daughter of William and Ella Bodine. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She married Arthur Hayes in 1913. He died in 1953. Surviving are son, Donald of Urbana; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
