BURLINGAME --- Flora E. Stout, 87, Emporia, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at an Emporia hospital. She was born Dec. 25, 1917, in Burlingame, the daughter of Harold and Alta Moon Bodine. She grew up in Burlingame and graduated from Burlingame High School. Flora was an operator in the Burlingame telephone office and worked for the Carey Furniture Store and at the Burlingame Locker Plant. She married John E. Stout on March 22, 1943. He died July 4, 1969. Survivors include a son, Curtis J. Stout and his wife, Annie, Kingwood, Texas; a daughter, Venice and her husband, Forrest Hunter, Burlington; a sister, Leota Hahn and her husband, Paul, Emporia; four grandchildren, Eric and his wife, Connie Conn, Moriah and her husband, Ron Brown, Sean Stout and Scott Stout and his fiancee, Vadie Hooper; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Burlingame Federated Church. Burial will be in Burlingame Cemetery. Flora will lie in state from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Carey Funeral Home in Burlingame, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
