"Sudden Death of Mrs. Daniel S. Gerow"
Mrs. Daniel S. Gerow died Wednesday morning at the home of William N. Beggs, on Montgomery street, near the corner of Third street, Newburgh. Mrs. Gerow left her home at about 9 o'clock with a view of accompanying Mr. Gerow down town. He left her standing at the corner of Second and Montgomery street, near the entrance to Lawson Rose house while he visited the postoffice. On his return to her she complained of feeling ill. She was unable to continue further on the trip down town and they started to return to their home at No. 72 Montgomery street. They had not walked a hundred feet when Mrs. Gerow's strength failed her and it was found necessary to take her in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Beggs, at 56 Montgomery street. A physician was at once summoned and everything possible was done for her by Mrs. Beggs and Mr. Gerow, but without avail. She was dead when Dr. Hollinger arrived. Coroner was summoned and he was granted a certificate of death from heart disease, Mrs. Gerow having frequently complained of pains about her heart. Mrs. Gerow was about 60 years of age.
