ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla.---Robert A. Burghart Sr. of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Walton, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, in Zephyrhills. He was 88. Mr. Burghart was born in Walton on Dec. 9, 1915, to William and Mary Mae Money Burghart. Mr. Burghart had his own trucking company in the 1940s; he then bought a dairy farm on Pines Brook that he operated for 25 years. He then worked in the tool room at S.J. Bailey. He also worked on the Pepacton Reservoir, at Scintilla and at the Silkmill and Sheffield Dairy. Mr. Burghart was a past president of the Dad's Club at the Walton Veterans Club, member of the Eastern Milk Producers and the Apex Sportsman's Club. In Zephyrhills he was a member of St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church and the Elks Club of Zephyrhills. He will be remembered for his very hard work, many times working more than one job, his honesty, generosity and love for his family. Mr. Burghart is survived by his wife, Alice, of Zephyrhills; daughter, Janice (Dick) Hoag of Oneonta; four sons, Robert (Rita) of Pella, Iowa, William (Dorothy), Raymond and Roy, all of Walton; three stepchildren, Ardell Brummell, Lalia Pelton and John Ray Carlton; 34 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren. Family members who died earlier include his first wife, Christina; two grandchildren; and a stepdaughter, Kaylynn Fitzgerald. A memorial service was held at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in Zephyrhills, and a service and burial will take place in Walton in the spring.
