Peter Bodine spent his childhood in the usual manner of farmer lads, living with his parents until his marriage to Miss Sarah M. Ostrander, who was born in 1816, in Plattekill township, and is yet living; her husband, however, died in 1869. After their wedding they located on the old home farm, Mr. Bodine following agricultural pursuits. He was an industrious and energetic farmer, yet found time to devote to public interests, on several occasions serving his fellow tiwnsmen in public offices, and for many years he was justice of the peace. He contributed liberally to the support of the Methodist Episcopal Church, with which he held membership; his wife is a member of the Reformed Church of New Hurley.
