Notes for: Albert Bodine

I believe Susannah and Ann are their children. They were listed as children of an Albert and Anne Bodine at FamilySearch.com. I think this Albert may very well be the Albert "Boredine" who was listed in the 1800 Census of Florida, Montgomery County, New York. There was one male 16-26, one female 16-26, and two females under 10. He was the only Bordine or Bodine listed in that census.

I am going to guess that this Albert Bodine is the same one who is buried in the Hope Valley / Willard Cemetery in Hamilton Co., NY. This is only an educated guess and would need evidence, but I have a pretty good feeling about it. Albert died on March 1, 1846 at age 71. His wife, Hannah died on September 20, 1854 at age 78. The reading was performed by NYS D.A.R. in about 1964. The cemetery is in the town of Hope, on Route 30, east side of road, one quarter-mile north of Fulton-Hamilton County Line.

I believe Albert was the head of a family in the 1825 Census of Benson in Hamilton County, but his name is given as Albert Bodice. An Isaac Bodice is also listed. This would be the Isaac Bodine who married Anna Mandeville. I would tend to think that Albert and Isaac were brothers. See Isaac's Notes for more speculation on this family.

Joan Best looked at some images censuses on-line and found the following. I believe these are from Montgomery County, New York.

In the Florida Census of 1800, there was also a Mark (?) Mortlett, male 10-16. The female side was missing. This census was hard to read.

In 1810 in Mayfield Township, she found Albert Bodine: one male under 10 and a male and female between 26-45.

There was also an Isaac Bodine: 1 male and 1 female 25-45, and 3 females under 10.

In Florida Township, she found Jacob Bordine: 2 males under 10, 2 males 10-16, 1 male 16-26, 1 male 26-46, 1 female under 10, and 1 female 26-46.

Michael Marlatt: 4 males under 10, 1 male 16-26, 1 male 45+, 3 females under 10, 2 females 10-16, 2 females 16-20, and 1 female 26-46.

Enoch Moratt: 1 male under 19, 2 males 19-16, 1 male 45+, 4 females under 10, 2 females 10-16, 1 female 16-26, and 1 female 26-45.

There was a Stephen Burdine in Charlestown Township: 2 males under 10, 3 males 10-16, 1 males 26-45, 1 female under 10, and 1 female 26-45.

The 1820 census is very hard to read. It appears that there is Jacob Brudine and female 45+, with 3 children. And Michael Morlett Jr. is in Florida.

In Mayfield Township, I found what appears to be William Bordine.

The only familiar name was Cornelius Van Horn near Jacob in 1810. He was over 45.

End of census info from Joan Best.

Dave,

You have stated that Albert was another son of John Bodine and Marie Van Hoesen. I found some records that agree with that. A source on FamilySearch gave the date of Albert's baptism as April 3, 1775 (the same day as the baptism of Ann Bodine, the wife of Harmanus Mandeville).

According to the church records in Fonda, NY, Albert was married to Hannah Van Hoesen on Jan. 10, 1799 in Schenectady. The only children I could find for Albert were Susannah, baptized May 25, 1801 in Schenectady (FamilySearch), and Albert J., born Dec. 1, 1806 and baptized Feb. 26, 1807 in the Reformed Dutch Church in Amsterdam, NY at Manny's Corners (the same church as the baptisms of the children of Isaac and Ann).

You already know that Albert "Boredine" was on the 1800 census in Florida, NY with one male 16-25, two females under 10, and one female 16-25.

Albert was on the 1810 census in Mayfield Twp., Montgomery County, NY with one male under 10, one male 26-45, and one female 26-45.

Albert "Bodine" was on the 1820 census in Hope, Hamilton County, with one male 10-16, one male over 45, one female under 10, and one female 26-45 (NYGenWeb).

Albert "Burdine" was on the 1830 census in Hope, with one male 50-60, one female 10-15, and one female 50-60.

Albert "Burdine" was on the 1840 census in Hope, with one male 20-30, one male 60-70, one female 20-30, and one female 60-70.

Albert died on Mar. 1,1846, and Hannah Van Hoesen died on Sept. 20, 1854 (NYGenWeb). Both are buried in the Hope Valley Cemetary in Hamilton County.

That's all on Albert...
