In 1930, James Bodine and his family lived in McLean, Gray County where he worked as a truck driver. Gladdy (Abbott) Bodine was the daughter of George J. and Zudie May (Daniell) Abbott.

KERMIT (Staff) - James Leon Bodine, 63, assistant foreman for Perry R. Bass Inc. for 24 years, died at 6 a.m. today at Memorial Hospital here following an illness of several months. Services are pending at Cooper Funeral Home of Kermit. A resident of Kermit for 32 years, Bodine moved here from McLean. He was born Dec. 8, 1904, in Garland and was married to the former Gladys Fern Abbott in Canyon on Aug. 16, 1925. Bodine was a member of the First Methodist Church here and the Masonic Lodge in Rankin. Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Odis Joiner and Mrs. Gene Paschall, both of Kermit; and Mrs. Carroll Mitchell of Monahans; one brother, T. A. Bodine of Satanta, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. S. B. Christian of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren.

KERMIT (Staff)--Mrs. G. _ (Fern) Bodine, 68, of Kermit died Wednesday at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa following an extended illness. Services for her are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Methodist Church in Kermit, with burial to be in Kermit Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home. Mrs. Bodine was born in Hollis, Okla., Aug. 23, 1906 and was a lifetime member of the First Methodist Church. She was also a charter member of the United Methodist Women and of Builder's Sunday School Class. A resident of Kermit for 25 years, she married J. L. Bodine Aug. 16, 1925 in Canyon. He preceeded her in death Oct. 31, 1968. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Gene Paschall of Kermit, Mrs. Odis Joiner of Jal, N.M., and Mrs. Carroll Mitchell of Monahans; a brother, E. D. Abbott of Amarillo; two sisters, Mrs. Zillah Billingslea of Lamar, Colo. and Mrs. Mildred Salisbury of Lubbock; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
