Burnett, Asst Pastor Central M.E. Church.

Clayton Bordine AND Lora Bordine, who had married 9 Aug 1913 in Detroit, were divorced 19 July 1939 in Calhoun County.

Clayton Forest Bordine registered for the World War 1 draft on 5 June 1918 in Battle Creek. He reported he was born 7 May 1893 in Battle Creek, was a self-employed garage repair man, was married and had 2 children. [Note: When his death was reported to the Social Security Administration his birth date was given as 7 April 1893. As the7 May date was given by him and May was the date reported in the 1900 census and the 7 April date by his survivors, the 7 May date is used here.]

The 1900 census of Battle Creek, Calhoun Co., MI lists the family of Larmon G. HAVENS, 49, Marion B. 49 wife, Laura I. April 1883 (age 17) dau, Nina M. May 1886 dau. NOTE: It appears Lora lied about her age at the time she married claiming she was 22 years old same as her husband, when, in fact she was 32. The age given in her 1965 obituary was 82, which is consistent with a 1883 birth date.

BORDINE, Lora Ida, 82, of 3909 N. 2nd Ave., died April 3rd. Survived by daughter, Mrs. Jean Fenton, of Tucson; son, Jack, of Baltimore, Md.; sisters, Mrs. Clara Callahan, of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Nina Gunderson, of Mt. Dora, Fla.; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, Palms Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Roger Stressman of Catalina Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Grantwood Cemetery.

Clayton F. Bordine, resident of Bedford, Calhoun County, born 7 May 1893, died 22 Feb 1974 in Battle Creek, Calhoun County.
Marie K. Bordine, resident of Hastings, Barry County, born 7 Dec 1896, died 29 Nov 1987 in Hastings, Barry County.

Clayton F. Bordine, 80, of 164 N. Gardner Ave., an assistant assessor and building inspector for Bedford Township for the past 10 years, died Friday of an apparent heart attack. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Community Hospital. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Farley Funeral Home. Bordine was born in Battle Creek and was a lifelong resident of the area. He began his assessor duties in 1964 when he retired after 30 years as an employee of Shouldice Bros. Sheet Metal Works, Inc. He also was a member of the Bedford Township Planning Commission. In 1960 Bordine served as chairman of the Metropolitan Planning Commission. He was a former township zoning board chairman. Bordine was a life member of the Battle Creek Elks Lodge 131 and a member of the Bedford Area Lions Club. He is survived by his widow, the former Marie Merrell Kloack, daughters, Mrs. Frank (Jean) Fenton of Mesa, Ariz., Mrs. Loren Ridpath of 125 W. Sunset Blvd., a son, Jack Bordine of Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Fern Annabel of Elgin, Ill.; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

HASTINGS---Marie K. (Merrell) Bordine, 90, of 136 W. Green St., and formerly of Battle Creek, died Sunday in Pennock Hospital. She was born in Marion, Ind., and was reared in the Climax area, where she attended school. She lived most of her life in Battle Creek, where she was employed at the former S. S. Kresge store and the old Battle Creek Sanitarium. She moved to Hastings in 1986. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Maynard Kloack, in 1930; her second husband, Clayton Bordine, in 1974; daughters, Elizabeth Bassett, in 1986 and Jean Ridpath, who died Sunday, several hours before her mother died. Surviving are a stepson, Jack Bordine of Baltimore, Md.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Battle Creek. Memorial donations may go to the TB Emphysema Association. Arrangements are by Wren Funeral Home.
