Notes for: Lucille Eilene Bodine

Lucille's father's obituary says that she was named Mrs. Lucille Schoenfeld and that she was living in Oklahoma City in 1948. I got a message from Robin (Schoenfeld) Toms (TOMSFAMILY at aol.com) who has more info on this family. She said her name is Lucille Eilene Bodine and not Clara Lucille. However, the name Clara Lucille is listed in the Bodine-Burns family Bible. Lucille worked at Tinker Air Force Base for over 22 years, mostly as an auditor. She retired in 1969. Her hobbies were sewing, quilts, crocheting and travel.

In some notes from the book "Boulder Fireplace Burns" from 1973, she said, "I enjoyed my two trips to Europe, one to Mexico City and one to Australia. But I'm thru - I say - to these foreign countries where I cannot speak their language. I feel so helpless, inadequate when I can't be friends and talk to people." Lucille belonged to many clubs and said that she had "been chairman or president of every club I join - my Leo trait no doubt."

Lucille and George belonged to the Methodist Church. She said that George "was a Catholic when I married him. I asked him too many questions that he could not answer, so after many years of not attending any church, and 27 years after our marriage, we became Methodists and oh how he loved it."

From Ronny Bodine:

George was in the U.S. Navy from August 10, 1918 to June 24, 1919. He served on the battleship Pennsylvania in the Southern Atlantic. He was later the manager of the Auto Parts Department in Ford dealership stores.
