She married first at age 13. "Herman Theuniszen VanZell in Munsterl,
en Grietje Cosyns Van N. Amsterd." on 19 Apr 1654, at DRC, New
Amsterdam. They had one daughter, Vrouwtje, bapt. 24 Feb 1658, DRC New
Amsterdam. Witnesses: Cozyn Gerritszen, Vrouwtje Cozyns (Grietje's
parents), and Tryntie Grevenraedt.
At age 44, with 8 children (1 by her first husband, 7 by the second)
she was married a third time to her neighbor, "Daniel de Clerq, Wed.
van Marie de Moll, en Grietie Cozyns, Wed. Van Jan Pieterszen Haring,
beyde woonende alhier," on 7 Feb 1685, DRC New York. Daniel was an
elder in the Tappan church. He was born at Oostberg in the Netherlands
c1654. He emigrated to New Amsterdam with his father and two brothers,
John and Henry, and settled in the bouwer village north of Wall
Street. Daniel was a brewer, Captain of the militia, and Justice of
the Peace.
In the following year she and her new husband moved to Tappan with her
seven Haring children. Her son, Cornelius, Jr., bought a farm from
Samuel Demarest, Sr., near the present Haworth. Daniel joined the NY
Dutch Church in Dec 1684.
On 18 Oct 1685 "Daniel de Clerck and Grietie Cozyns" were witnesses at
the baptism of Cornelia, daughter of Claes Janszen and Barber Caspers,
DRC New York.
She was a witness at the baptism of one of her grandchildren on 7 Oct
1688: Grietie, dau. of Pieter Janszen Haring and Grietie Bogart.
She was again a witness at the baptism of a grandchild on 8 Feb 1691:
Grietie, dau. of Theunis Quick and Vrouwtje Jans. And again on 29 Apr
1705 for Cornelis, son of the same couple.
In 1692 Daniel de Clerk gave his age at "about 38 years." He died
shortly before 16 Nov 1731. He and Grietje had no children of their
own.
