The Strain family was living 1900-1910 in Ewing, Franklin County, Illinois where James was engaged in farming. Euphemia stated in 1900 and 1910 she had borne 6 children of whom 5 were then living. In 1900 Euphemia was recorded as Unfane. Euphemia was married to her 2nd husband only five years and had no children and when she died she was buried with her 1st husband, with whom she had all of her children. James and Euphemia Strain were buried in Kirk Cemetery, Jefferson County. Their graves no longer bear markers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Strain Klinker, 81, a well known resident of Whittington, will be held Saturday at 1:30 p. m. at Rescue church, northeast of Whittington. Mrs. Klinker died Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Homer Cates, 1411 S. Tenth street. The Rev. Harp and the Rev. Yates will conduct the funeral services and burial will be in Kirk cemetery. Mrs. Klinker was a member of the Free Will Baptist church of Whittington. She had been in failing health for two years and had been bedfast for the past seven months. She was born on a farm in Jefferson county on March 20, 1868. She was married to Mort Strain, who preceded her in death in 1915. To this union were born six children, four of whom survive. They are Arthur and Freddy of Whittington, Luther of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Homer Cates of Mt. Vernon. In 1916 she was married to Frank Klinker. They made their home near Whittington. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Emma Morrison of Naylor, Mo., and four-step-children, Mrs. Richard Newberry of Whittington, Bill Klinker of Sesser, Joe Klinker of Chicago Heights, Ill. and Virgil Klinker of Belle Rive.
