Notes for: George Emerson Bodine

The book Boulder Fireplace, Burns says that George was born at Lawrenceburg in Dearborn County, Indiana. This is on the Ohio River near the Ohio and Kentucky border. He was a farmer who lived near Olpe for a time. Then he bought a farm in Dragoon Township in Osage County, Kansas. They lived and raised their children on that farm. The book also says that George had four children by a former marriage to Edwardeen Bratt. She had died. The children were Anna, Pearl, Harold, and Mabel, 8 to 2 years of age.

The book goes on to say the Stella, with her children, went to the rural Methodist Church near their home. However, she had embraced the Christian Science faith.

Here is Benjamin Bodine and his third wife, Elizabeth Nocks. The children are George Emerson Bodine and Allie May Bodine. This picture must have been taken in the early 1880's.
