Notes for: Mary Ann Sutton

There is a Maryann (Bodine?) listed in the Bodine-Burns family Bible near George Emerson Bodine and Benjamin Bodine. I would guess that she was this Maryann, but that would need proof. That Maryann's birth date was May 29, 1832. I will write it in here for now. According to the 1880 Census of Center, Lyon Co., KS, his mother was from Indiana; however, this may have referred to his mother-in-law.

P>I wonder if "Mrs" is a courtesy - or if that means that MaryAnn was a widow?

Subject: Mary Ann McIntyre/McIntire m. Benjamin Bodine

Hi Dave,

Thanks to my cousin Robin Toms we have some new information that changes our family tree.

Robin's mom just gave her a letter and note - written by my great grandfather George Emerson Bodine, and an interview with him about the family history.

Mary Ann McIntyre (or McIntire) who is listed in the family bible as wife to Benjamin was a widow at the time of her marriage to Benjamin. Her previous marriage was to Davis McIntyre (May 29, 1851)

George Emerson Bodine states that her maiden name was SUTTON - and lists her brothers and sister as George W Sutton, Louis Sutton, Rachel Sutton and Joh C. Sutton.

Interestingly - her parents Joshua and Sarah Wells SUTTON moved to KS (Lyon County) so George knew his grandparents.

Robin obtained a copy of the marriage license for Benjamin and Mary Ann - and became curious when she noticed that Mary Ann was listed as Mrs.

Then, last week Robin was given the documents to back up her suspicions, and also found a marriage record for Mary Ann to Davis McIntire/McIntyre.

Several SUTTON webpages list Mary Ann's marriage to "B. Bodine".

But they never made the connection to your site.

Here is the ref for her first marriage:

P>We are both quite excited by this find - since we have gotten no where in our searches for Mary Ann in the past - it has opened up whole new avenues.
