"Rev. Amos Allen Weds Stockton Girl After Divorcing Mate Who Eloped"
Miss Alice Bodine, of Stockton, has become the bride of Rev. Amos Allen, former pastor of the Sandy Ridge and Stockton Baptist Churches, who divorced his wife, after she caused a sensation by eloping with a Sandy Ridge pountry farmer a year ago. In September, it is now reported, the Rev. Dr. Allen resigned his charges and went to Reno, Nev., to obtain a divorce. He was successful early in December, and the 12th of that month he married Miss Bodine, who is the daughter of Mrs. Emma Bodine, living near Stockton. The marriage took place in Berkeley, Cal. The first Mrs. Allen did not contest the divorce, it is said. After returning from her elopement, she went to Easton, Pa., where she is now employed in a department store. She has no children. Mrs. Bodine has returned to her farm and it is expected that her daughter and son-in-law will come East in the near future.
