Notes for: Mary Gladys Bodine
Wesley Bodine says she has a daughter named Sophia. No last name was given.
This Mary was not mentioned as surviving in her mother's obituary of 1945. That is somewhat strange.
From Ronny Bodine:
In April 1930, M. Gladys Bodine, 24 and single, a public school teacher, lived with her aunt Ann Rolle in Jersey City, Hudson County. On 20 Aug 1931, Gladys Bodine, born 16 July 1902 in Stockton, NJ, a resident of 124 Monticello Avenue, Jersey City, New Jersey, arrived in New York City aboard the ship "Berengaria" from Cherbourg, France.
The Trenton (NJ) Evening Times of 14 Nov 1931 reported "Miss Gladys Bodine of Union, spent a week at her home on Stockton Road."
From New York Marriage Records:
Caspar P. Hart AND M. Gladys Bodine were issued a marriage license on 28 May 1933 at Staten Island.
1940 Union Twp., Union Co., NJ: Gladys HART 37 NJ married, Sonya 5 NJ dau. Home on 1 April 1935 for Gladys--Roselle Park, for Sonya--Elizabeth.
From Plainfield (NJ) Courier-News of 18 Sept 1945:
Probate of the will of Emma W. Bodine of 10 Nov 1943 refers to her daughter Gladys B. Hart of Union City, Penn.
The 24 Oct 1977 newspaper obituary of her brother Frank Bodine named "Mrs. Gladys Hart of rural Stockton" as his survivor. She was deceased by April 1990 as evident from the obituary of her only child, Sonya, which appeared in the Trenton Evening Times of 30 April 1990 reporting that she, Sonya Hart, 55, died 27 April in Raritan Township, Hunterdon County and was survived only by four cousins.
