Notes for: Valentine Ent

Some information says he arrived in Philadelphia in 1733 and was naturalized in New Jersey in 1755. In 1738, he was a freeholder in Amwell Twp., Hunterdon Co., NJ. I do not yet have the children of Valentine Ent correctly listed.

Hi Dave -

...

Enclosed are the family group sheets for Valentine Ent showing his 12 children. In 1998 I had a call from a woman in Virginia who was tracing Ents. During the
course of our conversation, I mentioned I was trying for years to find the parents of Peter and Sabilla Bodine. She told me about Wesley Bodine of Stockton, NJ,
who is descended from Benjamin, a son of Peter and Sabilla...He is not researching his family but had a folder of family info that belonged to his father's sister. He said Valentine Ent married March 10, 1737, and told me the names and birth dates for all of his children.

I had only nine children listed as Valentine's children and three of them - Daniel, John and Charles - were not on Wes' list. I think those three (John probably being
the one you list) are sons of Daniel Ent - possibly a brother of Valentine. Ship passenger lists show Valentine and Daniel arriving in Philadelphia in 1733 along with
Endick and Catharine Endt listed under "women" - sisters maybe?

Carol (this is to Dave, too),

Sorry for the duplication, I didn't want to type this twice. Wish I had more to help, but my line of Ent is from Theobald who married Sybilla, through their son Johan Theobald who wa in Germantown, PA.

Thanks so much for the Ent information. Several years ago I corresponded with Beverlee Felkner 380 Old Mill Drive, Langhorn, PA 19047. She is descended from John Ent who left Germany in 1705 and arrived in East Amwell, New Jersey...

John was the father of Valentine Ent who married Susanna Moore. She sent a copy of some information from the Hunterdon Historical Newsletter which includes a map showing land formerly owned by Valentine Ent, and has Peter Bodine, Jacob Howell, James Romine, Robert Sharp and Lambert listed. At the top of the page it says,Book L., p 445--"Jersey Deeds" (West Jersey Deeds, New Jersey Archives) July 27, 1750--John Lambert of Kingwood to Valentine End of Amwell Township, Yoeman 750 lb. Land in Amwell Township bounced by Edward Farrell (spelled this way) Garrett Vandoloe, Richard Green, 410 acres.

In the sale of land by Susannah as executrix and her brother Peter More as executor, Belah is names as receiving, with her husband, Peter Bodine, land "in considerationof the fifty pounds...at being the first division of a legacy bequeathed to the said Belah Bodine by the said Valentine deceased...served in the Revolutionary War.

The last I heard from Beverly was over 10 years ago. I didn't look to see if she is still in the phone book. Her husband is Stanley Alexander Felkner.

Good luck. Thanks, both of you, for sharing.

Hello,

I have been researching Valentine Ent in my family lineage and saw your information online.

Bibles have neat family history. Curious: What is Susannah Case Bible - date in sources.

Any idea as to birth date of Valentine Ent? So many people agree on the 1770 death date but not on a birth date.

Thank you.
