Willard Rowe Holland, 91, of Kenton passed away at 8:56 a.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Oakmonte Village in Lake Mary, Florida. He was born on December 9, 1923 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Willard and Elizabeth (Reefer) Holland. On January 25, 1946, he married LaVerne Bodine in the parsonage of the Immaculate Conception Church. They were married for sixty-nine years and she survives in Lake Mary, Florida. Willard is also survived by his children: Allen (Kathy) Holland of Chardon, Ohio, Dennis (Kathy) Holland of Connersville, Indiana, Lynn (Kenny) Paugh of Kenton, Ohio, Michael (Tammy) Holland of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Laura (Pat) Clifton of Altamonte Springs, Florida; seven grandchildren: David (Alex)Holland, Matt (Brooks) Holland, Brian (Rachel) Paugh, Kendra (Brian) Hicks, Chad Holland, Shanna (Kent) Barnes and Kaylynn (Jeremy) Ennis, 15 great-grandchildren, sister, Opal Jones of Greenville, PA and a sister-in-law, Bernice along with several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, John and Lauren also preceded him in death. Willard was a 1941 graduate of Kenton High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving his country during World War II in the European Theatre under General George Patton. He is also retired from Rockwell International in 1986 and was a life-long farmer. He enjoyed camping, fishing and boating. Following retirement he and his wife wintered in Ft. Myers, FL. Willard was a life-long member of the Immaculate Conception Church where he also served as Past-Grand Knight of the K of C Council 1597 and was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, the Kenton Elks Lodge #157, and Kenton Moose Family Center #428. A funeral mass for Willard Rowe Holland will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Jeff Tigyer officiating. Burial will follow the service in St. Mary's Cemetery with the AMVETS Post #1994 Honor Guard conducting graveside military rites. Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00 p.m Friday, November 13, 2015 at SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME where the Rosary service will commence at 7:30 p.m., followed by the 4th Degree K of C service. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior (9:00-10:00 a.m.) Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to Vitas Hospice, 2201 Lucien Way, Suite 100, Maitland, FL 32751. LaVerne Holland, 98, of Kenton passed away in Lake Mary, Florida. She was born on October 15,1925 in Kenton, Ohio to the late John David Bodine and Grace Thelma (Deerwester) Bodine. On January 25,1946, she married Willard Rowe Holland in the parsonage of the Immaculate Conception Church. They were married for sixty-nine years when he passed on November 8, 2015. LaVerne is survived by her children: Allen (Kathy) Holland of Chardon, Ohio, Dennis (Kathy) Holland of Connersville Indiana, Lynn (Kenny) Paugh of Ada Ohio, Michael (Tammy) Holland of Clearwater Florida, and Laura (Patricia) Clifton of Altamonte Springs, Florida; Seven grandchildren; David (Alex) Holland, Matt (Brooks) Holland, Brian Paugh, Kendra Hicks, Chad Holland, Shanna (Kent) Barnes, Kaylynn (Jeremy) Ennis and Aaron (Krisha) Yurkiewicz and 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. LaVerne was a lifelong resident of Kenton and a 1943 graduate of Kenton High School. She enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and traveling. She was an avid card player, enjoying Bridge, Poker and Pinochle. Following her husband's retirement in 1986, they spent their winters in Ft. Myers FL. LaVerne was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Church and The Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was a member of the Compromise Community Club in Buck Township, Hardin County. Visitation will be held at 5:00 PM- 8:00 PM on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the SCHINDEWOLF-STOUT-CRATES FUNERAL HOME where the Rosary Service will commence at 7:30 PM. A funeral Mass for LaVerne Holland will be at 10:30 AM on November 21, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Ryan Schmit officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery, Kenton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of LaVerne to the Immaculate Conception Church, Kenton,Ohio or Advent Hospice, Orlando Florida.
