On 9 June 1917, John Davis Bodine registered for the World War I draft in Oklahoma City. He reported he was single and farmed for himself. His gravestone in Sunny Lane Cemetery notes he served during World War I with the 33rd Company, 165th Depot Brigade.

Services are pending for John Davis Bodine, 69, of 3301 S. Harvey, who died Monday. Capitol Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Bodine was active in the oil business, prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Gus Land, 923 SW 57, and Mrs. Frank Reynolds, Barstow, Calif.
