Notes for: Ann Lucretia (Anna) Bodine

She was mistakenly called Mrs. D. G. Emery in the obituary of her brother Jess Bodine.

Here is a picture of Anna Lucretia (Bodine) Imlay's tombstone. This was sent to me by Nelva (Bodine) Chapline. Anna is buried in Sunny Lane Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

When Anna died, she left four children. And here is a picture of her husband's grave. This was also sent to me by Nelva Chapline.

Dave,

Great website on the Bodine's! I do have an update (clarification), if you are interested.

Anna Lucretia Bodine is my Great Grandmother. She, of course, married David Grant Imlay - born May 2, 1864 - died March 15, 1929 (sic).

They had 3 sons & two daughters:
1.) Thurman I. - born June 22, 1888 - married Grace Kelso.
2.) Mary Eliza - born Oct. 19, 1890 - married Harry LeCompte - had 5 children: Annabelle, Cathrine Anita, Joesph, Jack, David & O.H.
3.) Monica - born 1895 - died 1899.
4.) Loran Isaac - born April 10, 1897 - married Guynell McCallister - had 4 children: Helen, Mary Jane, Francis & Loran McCallister.
5.) Charles Theron - born Feb. 9, 1901 - married Myrtle Fisher - born Oct. 19, 1901 - had 2 sons: Charles Theron Jr. (born Aug. 12, 1920) & James Graham (born April 26, 1922).

I am, Thomas James Imlay, the one of the sons of Charles Theron Imlay Jr.

I did not mention “death dates” above. Charles Theron Sr. died on 4/15/1969. Charles Theron Jr. died on 2/26/1983. Both Charles Theron Sr. and Jr. went by the name Theron for most of their lives. Also, Mary Eliza did use the name Maymee or Mamie (I believe it was spelled this way) as you have indicated.

Regards,
Thomas Imlay

Dave,

My Imlay family records indicate the Annie Bodine was born on January 11, 1869 and died March 15, 1929. That does coincide with your picture of the gravestone.

Sorry, I was wrong on David Grant Imlay's death date in my earlier email. David Grant Imlay was born on May 2, 1864 and died on September 9, 1942. I question our Imlay family birth date because his gravestone in your picture says 1865. Also, his father was in the Ohio Volunteers around that time but I guess that wouldn't necessarily have gotten in the way of his birth.

Also, James Graham Imlay died on August 28, 1998.

Also, I found that Mary Eliza (Mamie) Imlay Le Compte died on October 25, 1957. I got this off of a California Death Index a few years ago.

I sure do wish I could find a picture of Annie Bodine. My father talked about her all the time.

Thanks,
Thom
