Notes for: Francis ("Frank") V. Bodine

There is no Frank Bodine listed in the household of John and Jane Bodine in the 1880 Census of 1st Ward, District 2, Trenton, Mercer Co., NJ.

The following may apply to this Frank Bodine, but I'm guessing:

I am researching the body of work of Frank V. Bodine, architect 1855 - abt 1938, He was commissioned to design many of the early NJ RR stations and multiple civic, commercial and major residential commissions in NJ, NY, and FL from 1880s to the 1930s. I own a home he designed in Asbury Park, NJ, which I have just applied for Historic Designation from NJ and Nationally Trust. One of the most notable structures he designed is the office building that housed the offices of Woodrow Wilson at the time of his election to presidency and the site of his acceptance.

I would appreciate any historic information, as he is listed to your site, and any information on descendants who may be able to provide any information. I am most interested in his obituary to see if it provides information on his lifes accomplishments or the repository of his architectural files. I would gladly exchange the research I have collected.

Thank you

Ronny Bodine had earlier sent me the following:

There is a biography of Frank V. Bodine in Portrait and Biographical Record of Queens County (Long Island) New York, New York: 1896, Chapman Pub. Co., p. 197-198. Therein it notes his parents had 5 children: Frank V., Hattie, Charles, John F., Jr. and Enoch. Frank was the oldest and was born in Trenton 3 Nov 1855. In 1875, upon the death of R. W. Gallagher, one of the principal architects of the city, he took his office and advertised as his successor. In failing health, he moved to Asbury Park, NJ and in the course of five years erected a number of buildings. He next moved to Somerville, NJ and in 1895 to Far Rockaway. In 1882, he married Mary W. Kelley, of Trenton.

From Ronny Bodine:

In 1900-1910, Frank and Mary Bodine lived in Avon-by-the-Sea, Neptune Township, Monmouth County where Frank was engaged as an architect. In 1900, he reported that he and his wife had been married 16 years but had no children. Mary (Kelly) Bodine was the daughter of James and Mary (Wemer) Kelley.
