A.H. Salisbury, 90 McCook County, Lived Here Since 1879. The rapidly thinning ranks of South Dakota pioneers lost another of its members last night with the death of Albert Hartson Salisbury, who died at his home one mile South of the county line, in McCook County, last night. Death was caused by an intestinal obstruction. He was 90 years old. Mr. Salisbury had lived in South Dakota since 1879, when he moved to Dakota territory with this family from Iowa. He settled on a homestead in Ramsey Township in McCook County and lived on that place up to the time of his death. He was well known in this district and was reputed to be one of the best-read men and possessed one of the largest libraries in the vicinity. Mr. Salisbury was born in Madison, WI, March 3, 1847. A few years later he moved with his family to Iowa where he completed his education in carpentry. He was married in 1876 to Harriet Elizabeth Bodine, and three years later they moved to the Dakota Territory. One son, Lester and a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Killion, who both lived near him in McCook County, and seventeen grandchildren, survives him. His wife died in 1919, of cancer, and a son William Eugene, died in 1932 from the effects of the loss of an arm, sustained from a corn shredder accident. Two daughters died several years ago. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Hallenbeck funeral home with the Rev. Carl W. Stromberg officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
