Notes for: John Thomas Bodine

The information on this family came from Trevor Smith (trevor_smith at pcc.net). He is the gg grandson of Tossie (Bodine) Smith. I believe he got this information from the 1880 Census of Rushville Township, Rush County, Indiana. John's parents are listed as born in NY in that census. He is a gardner. He also has a niece in his household, Nancy Lewark. She is 7 and born in IN, as well as her parents.

His name in the 1910 Census is Thomas Bodine. He is in the household of Allen Smith, his son-in-law. If that is correct, I'm guessing his name is John Thomas Bodine.

From Ronny Bodine (June 23, 2016):

John Bodine served as a Corporal with Company E., 123rd Indiana Infantry. He enlisted 31 Dec 1863 at Rushville, Indiana and was discharged 25 Aug 1865 in Indianapolis. He lived in Rush County most of his life until he was admitted to the U.S. National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Marion County, Indiana on 14 June 1910 at the age of 72. He reported he was a widower and that his nearest relative was his daughter Mrs. F. G. Frazee of Murray, Kentucky.
