Mary Bodine came to Illinois in 1841 with her mother. In 1850, Charles and Mary Hitchcock were living in Lee County where Charles was engaged as a merchant. On 23 Nov 1854, Luke and Charles Hitchcock laid out the Town of Lee Center. From 1860 on he seems to have been primarily engaged in farming. In 1870, the Hitchcock family was living in Amboy, Lee County. By 1880, Mary Hitchcock was widowed and living with her son Thomas in Chicago. Mary's age in the censuses is 26 in 1850, 39 in 1860, 46 in 1870 and 86 in 1880.
Children: Thomas J. (c1846), Harriet M. (c1849), Julia (c1852), Fremont Bodine (c1856), Howard (c1859), Jessie (c1863).
