Abram bought some land from a Thomas Bodine for $500 in Hardin County, Ohio on August 12, 1853 (v. N, p. 21). I have this deed. Although hard to read, it doesn't appear to give any hints as to who this Thomas Bodine was.
Mike Bodine found a couple of documents concerning a Thomas Bodine in Hardin County. One is from the Probate Court (document #1202) and the other is a civil document in volume 1, page 35. He has no info on the content of these documents yet. He also said that Thomas is found in the 1850 Census of Hardin County (I think) and his will is located in Kenton. He's getting the info from those.

Hi David:
I found the following marriages for Abram and Amos:
Bodine, Abram; Smith, Mary; 6 February 1852; Book 1, Page 283
Bodine, Abram; Brown, Amelia; 21 January 1869; Book 1, Page 98
Bodine, Amos; Kipp, Lydia Ann; 19 Nov 1874; Book 5, Page 161
Looks like Amos, Sallie, and Albert are children of Mary and Lana is a child of Amelia. Not sure about Clark. Thought he might have been a child of Amelia by a previous marriage but couldn't find a marriage record for her under anything close to Rites.

In 1840, there was a Thomas Bodine who was a Trustee in Dudley Township.
Abram is listed in the 1880 Census Index for Pleasant Township but I do not have that Census. So the following is not Abram [sic - The Abram listed in the 1880 Census was not this Abram Bodine; so the information below DOES apply to this Abram. The Abram in the 1880 Census was 25, but this Abraham would have been about 52 - if he were still alive.]

Here is some information from a newspaper clipping, dated April 24, 1873:
Small Pox -- It is reported on good authority that the small pox is now very severe in Dudly Township, especially on the Wheeler settlement, about seven miles from Kenton. Several deaths have been reported, among them Mr. Abraham Bo(r)dine and two children. We would advise our people hereabouts to have themselves and children vaccinated.
Here is another newspaper Clipping, dated April 10, 1873:
DIED In Dudley Township, on Monday, March 31st, of small pox, Frankie son of Abraham and Jane Bodine, aged four months and twenty-eight days.
Weep not, it was a Father's hand
that plucked your lovely flower;
He saw twas fair and took it hence
to grace his heavenly bower.
The brightest star has left your sky,
Yet be not so cast down
The Saviour wanted it above
to sparkle in his crown.
Your home is dark and cheerless now,
and desolate your hearth;
But know that heaven is brighter made
by what you've lost on earth.
He comforted, for God is good,
and when this life is o'er --
Where death and sorrow is unknown,
Your treasure he'll restore.

Bernice Bodine said the following about Bucyrus, Ohio. This is where the Abram above bought land in 1835.
- Bucyrus, Ohio is about 35 miles N E of Kenton. It is in Crawford Co., just above Marion Co. If the Bodines used the Great Trail (or Great Path) to come to the Ohio area, they could have gone through Wayne Co., over to Crawford Co., then south to Marion Co. and then west to Hardin Co. I feel that is most likely the route they used because of the number of Bodines in those counties.
She also said that David's [Carlos's father, John David (Westbrook) Bodine] ancestors were supposed to have come from Germany and had a connection to Kaiser Wilheim. I think this would need a lot of research before one should assume it is accurate.
Here's another message I got about some people who could be related to this Abraham Bodine. My guess is that the Margaret and Ann mentioned below could be Abraham's sisters.

Dave,
I'm responding to your posting on Ancestry.com Message board of Jul 29, 2000.
I'm looking for information on Margaret Bodine who married my G-Grandfather William S. Robinson July 9, 1856 in Kenton or Ann Bodine who married his brother James on Feb 14, 1855.
Any connections in your database?
Regards,
Tim Robinson
