Notes for: Adam J. Bodine

He is buried in the "New" Montgomery Cemetery.

There is an Adam J. Bodine in the 1880 Census of Montgomery, NY. He could be this Adam. He is a carman, widowed, age 77, and born in NY. Both his parents were also born in NY. In his household is his daughter, Sarah A. Bodine. She is 49 and single. She was born in NY as well as both of ther parents.

From Ronny Bodine:

There is an Adam Bodine, born 1804, who married Anna Eliza Crist in 1826 in Montgomery, New York. That might very well be this Adam, but it's only a guess. There is also an Adam J.

Ann (Crist) Bodine was the daughter of Lawrence and Eve Crist. The assumption is made that Adam Bodine, born in 1805, is identical with the Adam J. Bodine, age 45, a tailor, who was living June 1850 in Montgomery, Orange County. His household included Ann E. 43, Sarah A. 19 and a man whose name appears to be Elmer Bodine, 33, a blacksmith. This is supported by the baptism of Sarah, noted below, in 1830 to Adam J. Bodine and Ann Eliza Crist. The baptism of Ann Eliza Crist as daughter of Lawrence and Eve Crist appears in the baptismal records of the Brick Reformed Church of Montgomery.

Lawrence Crist, born 17 April 1828, son of Adam J. Bodine and Ann Eliza Crist.
Sarah Ann, born 29 Nov 1830, daughter of Adam J. Bodine and Ann Eliza Crist.

In June 1860, Adam Bodine, 55, teamster, lived in Montgomery with Ann E. 54, Sarah A. 28 and George 4. George Bodine was the son of Lawrence Bodine, Adam's son. In June 1870, the family of Adam Bodine 65, teamster, included Ann E. 64 and Sarah A. 38. George appears nowhere and likely had died. In June 1880, Adam J. Bodine, 75 is now a widower, working as a carman. His daughter, Sarah A., 49, is keeping house.

The will of Adam J. Bodine, of Montgomery, Orange County, written 18 Dec 1884 names as his heir to all his property his daughter Sarah A. Bodine, who is also appointed executrix. The will probate notes the death of Adam Bodine as 7 April 1885 and that his sole heirs were his daughter Sarah A. Bodine and son Lawrence C. Bodine. The will was proven 20 April 1885 (Orange County Wills, vol. 47 [1884-1885], pp. 411-413).
