Notes for: Robert White Bodine
I'm pretty sure this must be the Robert Bodine who married Elizabeth J. Williams of Wellsboro, Tioga Co., PA. They were married on September 5, 1866 at the home of the bride's parents by Rev. J. F. Calkins. This is the same minister who married Robert's sister, Margaret.
I think it is this Robert W. Bodine who is in the 1880 Census of Elmira, Chemung Co., NY. He is 38 and born in PA. Both his parents are from PA. Robert's profession is a dentist. His wife is Elizabeth (35, NY, PA, NY). Children are Charles W. (11, PA, PA, NY) and Nettie G. (10, PA, PA, NY). This Charles, I believe, is the same as the Charles Williams Bodine who married Ada B. Sheffer. That is a guess at this point, but evidence does point that way.
From Ronny Bodine:
The marriage of Robert Bodine and Elizabeth Williams was reported in the Tioga County Agitator of 12 Sept 1866. Robert and Elizabeth Bodine were buried in Wellsboro Cemetery, Tioga County. In 1900, the Bodine family lived in Wellsboro where Robert was engaged as a merchant. In their 33 years of marriage, Elizabeth had borne 3 children of who 2 were then living.
