Notes for: Adam Bodine
There are an Adam S. Bodine and an Ann Eliza Bodine (his wife) buried in the "New" Montgomery, New York Cemetery. He died April 7, 1885. He was possibly 80 years old. She died May 9, 1871 and was 54 years old and 9 months. This info would not match their marriage record. They are probably the parents of James O'Neal Bodine who is buried in the Montgomery DRC Cemetery. He died March 20, 1822 at age 4-7-20.

Hannah Tice was the daughter of John Christian and Tabitha (Connor) Theis (Tice). She was first married to James O'Neil by whom she had two children: Jane, 15 June 1808 and Maria, 18 June 1811. The records of the Dutch Reformed Church of Montgomery (formerly the DRC of Shawangunk) record the marriage of Adam Bodine to Hannah O'Neel on 6 July 1813. All their children were baptised at the Brick Reformed Church in Montgomery. The "History of Orange County, New York" (Philadelphia, 1881) notes Adam Bodine being chosen as Constable on 5 April 1803 at the Montgomery town meeting. Montgomery Village was incorporated 17 Feb 1810 and the first meeting was held 6 March 1810, at which time Adam Bodine was elected Town Clerk and served until 1818. He was President of Montgomery Village in 1817. He appears in the 1820 census of Montgomery, Orange County in a household of 8 persons, 3 over 25 and 5 under 16 and is likely the same Adam Bodine in the 1830 census of Crawford, Orange County in a household of 7 persons. It is unclear if the Adam Bodine living in Hamptonburgh, Orange County in 1840 is the same. Neither Adam nor Hannah Bodine appear in the 1850 census and must be presumed to have died by the time.
On 15 March 1838, Adam Bodine of Montgomery, aged 68, appered before the Orange County court on behalf of Elizabeth Tremper's claim for a widow's pension based upon the military service of her late husband Nicholas Tremper. Adam Bodine stated he was present at the marriage of Nicholas Tremper and Elizabeth Bodine on 29 Nov 1782 at his father's home by Rev. Vanness, Pastor of the Dutch Reformed Church in Shawangunk and that Nicholas Tremper died 3 Feb 1808.
On 8 Jan 1839, Adam Bodine of Montgomery, aged 68 on the 13th of Sept. 1838 appeared before the Orange County court on behalf of Catherine Crist's claim for a widow's pension based upon the military service of her late husband David Crist. Adam Bodine stated he was present at the marriage of David Crist to his sister Catherine Bodine on 30 Dec 1783 which was celebrated at his father's house by Mr. VanNess, pastor of the congregation of the Dutch church in Montgomery and also the congregation in Shawagunk and that David Crist died 10 June 1811.
