Notes for: Charles Cornelius Bodine

I am guessing that the Charley Bodine mentioned in the 1880 Census of Clarence, Erie Co., NY is this Charles. He is in the household of his grandfather, Abraham Bodine. Also there is Hellen Thompson, Abraham's daughter. Since Charley's mother died in 1879, I wonder if he was then taken in by Abraham and Hellen to care for him while Cornelius got his life back together. In that census, Charley is one year old and born in NY as were both his parents. I'm not sure where Elizabeth, his sister, was.

I also found a Cornelius Bodine in that 1880 Census of Clarence who was in the household of a Henry Lapp, a physician and surgeon. That Cornelius was 43 and born in NY. His parents were born in PA. He must be this Cornelius. It appears Cornelius and his wife must have had some serious illness about 1879/1880.

From Ronny Bodine:

In June 1900, Charles C. Bodine lived in Pasadena, Los Angeles County, California with his uncle and aunt, John A. and Helen P. Thompson. He was single and employed as a day laborer. In 1910, Charles and Lydia Bodine lived in Pasadena where Charles was the proprietor of a transfer company. Their household included their 2 sons and Lydia's parents, Peter and Mary Bernhard. On 12 Sept 1918, Charles Cornelius Bodine registered for the World War 1 draft in Los Angeles County, California. He reported he was born 28 Feb 1878, worked as a laborer, and that Mrs. Lydia Mary Bodine was his next of kin. In 1920-1930, Charles and Lydia Bodine lived in Pasadena, Los Angeles County where he worked as a truck driver in 1920 and as a dairyman in 1930.
