Notes for: Aaron (Aron) Bodine
A Whig Press article from October 20, 1862 says he died in Montgomery on October 13 and that he was 79 years old. The stone could be incorrect. There is an Aaron Bodine who witnessed the will of Daniel France. Peter A. Millspaugh was an executor (March 9, 1811 in Shawangunk, Ulster Co., NY).
From Ronny Bodine (May 9, 2019):
TENTATIVE PARENTS: Jacob (1754-1809) son of Peter Bodine (c1732-after 1785) and wife Anna Bookstaver. Jacob. The 1790 census gives Jacob 2 males aged 0-15 (born 1775-1790). Jacob died in 1809 when his widow Elizabeth was named administrator. His children are not known by name. AARON was born 1785 and fits as a son in the 1790 census, but not in 1800, when, perhaps, he was living and working with another family. Jacob's widow, Elizabeth, may be identical with the Elizabeth Bodine living next door to Aaron in 1840 in a household comprising 4 women aged 1(30-39), 1(40-49), 1(50-59), 1(80-89). The woman aged 80-89=born 1751-1760, would match up with the age of her husband.
Note: The Town of Crawford was formed from the Town of Montgomery on 4 March 1823.
The marriage on 13 Sept 1832 of Aaron Bodine of Crawford and Jane Shaw of Montgomery appears in the records of the Brick Reformed Church of Montgomery, Orange County. Levi Bookstaver and Adam Swain were witnesses.
None of their children appear in the baptismal records of any of the Orange County churches.
