Subject: Charles Vantine
After looking though my notes on the Bodines, I am still not satisfied that Charles Vantine who married Elizabeth Smock and the Charles Vantine who married Ann- VanNuis are in fact the same person. I have conflicting sources. Did you find a will for the Charles that died in Peru Ohio? I am going to look at the Charles who died in Cayuga County 1806 tomorrow.
I also see that the Devoes and Bodines have been marrying each other since colonial times. I found a reference in the NYGBR 1977 regarding de Veaux marriages. An interesting note if you may.
As for the conflicting sources, I see yours and also a compilation by Linda Hole in the Cayuga County Historian's Office. I do not have the funds or means to travel and research, so I am going with what I can find online and in various history books.
I know we've had this discussion before, but I am still confused.
